Maritime Arbitration & Neutral Evaluation

Prokopios Krikris is a supporting Member of the LMAA, Fellow of CIArb, willing to accept appointments as arbitrator on LMAA Terms.  Prokopios has been appointed as either a sole arbitrator or a tribunal member in arbitrations conducted under the auspices of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) or in ad hoc proceedings.

Prokopios offers specialized services in resolving disputes related to vessel speed and performance. With experience on both sides of the industry—having worked for both owners and charterers—he possesses a thorough understanding of each party’s perspective and is adept at advising on methodologies aligned with market practices. Furthermore, Prokopios has delivered training services to weather routing companies and other service providers, discussing arbitration decisions, performance methodologies, and potential drafting issues with the available clauses.

He has successfully managed numerous performance claims, addressing issues such as breaches of performance warranties, issues with the deck logs as evidence, slow steaming, hull fouling, and engine damages. Additionally, he has handled disputes arising from the vessel's underperformance, including bunker issues (quantities and quality), deviations, and off-hire matters.

By leveraging his extensive knowledge of maritime contracts, Prokopios ensures accurate assessment and effective claim negotiation. His strategic expertise supports shipowners and charterers in resolving disputes cost-effectively and fairly.

With extensive experience in pre-fixture, post-fixture, and claims negotiation, Prokopios provides independent and objective

reviews for performance claims and other charter party disputes.

 

His broad background enables him to interpret contract terms, evaluate performance reports, and offer strategic guidance on disputes and contractual clauses. Additionally, he provides a

report with detailed comments that can be submitted as evidence

in arbitration proceedings.

Pre-Fixture Consultation

Prokopios has frequently advised chartering brokers on drafting clauses and during the negotiation process, particularly when multiple amendments are involved.
